Rear Seat Upgrade

A customer’s vehicle came in, fresh from Africa, with something I don’t think I’ve seen before. They modified the rear tub to install front seats in the rear. I’ve definitely seen front seats in the rear, but never with this much leg room. Supposedly the tires do not rub.

The person sitting in the seat is 6’4” and the drivers seat is about where I would put it (I’m 6’).

Not a terrible looking mod honestly. What's the usable length of the loadspace now though?

Mine came with a similar set up. The issue is the passengers didn't like it as it sat you up so high that you could not see out the window... I hope they solved that...

I actually think these sit lower than a factory rear seat. I’ll measure tomorrow when I’m back at the shop.

cool! I’d love to know. I’ve got my Disco 2 seat on my bench and if I can incorporate some cool you see, the timing my be perfect! If you like the height, let me know how tall from the floor they are, please!!

it looks similar to the cut out used on the Disco II seat.

From the front of the seat to the headliner is about 36" and the rear of the seat to the headliner is about 39". Its about 15" from the floor to the top of the front edge of the seat cushion. That puts these seats about 2"-3" lower than a NAS 110.

Thats a really well done. I've always wanted to see a 4 dr based on a stretched 90, using modified front doors in the second row. But this is easier to complete. Lets face it, 110 rear legroom is miserably small.

That sounds very similar to what the DII seats are going to be once I actually cut the tub and install. I just have not been in a rush, but I really want them done this winter... along with the radiator shroud I have been putting off...

Any info on the upper seat belt mount? And also pic’s of the rear cargo space?
From a mechanical engineering perspective on that upper seat belt mount, with a cantilever that long coming down from the roof without a diagonal or horizontal tie back to equalize a forward thrust, it is sketchy AF!
