Rear door floor seal

1986 110 originally came with a three (3) part rear door seal - 333203 protective strip (NLA), 332564 seal & 332756 seal retainer.
I had my metal parts powder coated & ordered what I thought was the superseded seal. Instead I got the new updated seal for the later Defender that has two (2) parts - ALR4770 seal-rear-door-floor & ALR4769 retainer-mat. I can make the new seal work with the old protective strip (see pics), but did a better search & found out the original seal is still available. I have it ordered because it makes me crazy to think I fixed the metal parts only to discard them. Then I ordered the newer retainer for the new seal because the old seal may become unavailable in the future. My shelves keep getting more new/old parts that I may or may not use in the future. Classic Defender Owner = Hoarder.

Removing the plate and getting the stupid screws that rust and corrode the aluminium below out is one of the things I do very early in ownership.

The seal pictured is what I thought we were talking about. I have never seen a Bolton seal on the fifth door (like on some other doors).

When you remove the plate and screws, what holds the seal in? I knoweth of this galvanic destruction that you speaketh of…

Depends on the generation but it’s either wedged in there or a slot I think. But basically it’s just screws (many of which will break on removal).

I think the screws go through the seal. The seal has a big flap piece of rubber that goes under the tread plate on the rear
