R380 Transmission Fluid (MTF94- where to find)?

Has anyone tried an Allison TES 295 ATF? That's synthetic Dexron III fluid. I have a bunch of BP Autran Syn 295.

There's also the newer TES 668 that's backwards compatible. It looks like Castrol Transynd 668 has similar viscosity as the ATF Ashcroft recommends. Autran Syn 295 has a little higher viscosity, but not as high as MTF94.

Ashcroft's suggested fluid: https://www.tripleqx.com/uk/tds.php?productcode=TQX.30001&action=show_and_create

I have the Amsoil Synchromesh MTF in my R380 and I don’t like how it shifts. And it grinds into 2nd unless I’m really careful. I have some Autran Syn 295 which is an Allison version of Dexron III. I think I’ll try that in it.

Not sure where you are in the world but redline, MTL and mt90 solve all of these problems.

The only downside it's now like $20 a quart

I never liked the Amsoil, been using Redline for many years

Redline helped with my second and third gear crunch (apparently a common issue with these transmissions), so I've been quite happy with it.

My R380 is shifting very nice with the ATF now. Feels buttery. It rarely grinds going into 2nd now. I can see why Ashcroft recommends it.
