Puma smoking on start up

Guys, I finally drove up my new 2015 Puma 110 up to Chicago last week. This was my 1st trip and everything worked great. Well now she blowing blue smoke and i get a smell of mixture of oil and diesel. Once she is good and warmed up it all goes away. I took it to the dealer to get the oil changed but they didn't have the right filter (i called ahead and they said to bring it in, no problem). Truck has about 9k miles on it. I was looking to see if maybe it was something to do with DEF but i don't think this truck even has it, at least i can't find it. Is it just a cold start, all my other ford diesel never did this except only when doing a regen, but i don't think this 2.2 has any type of regen system that i can see or look up on the web, any help would be great. Also, i need a place here in the states for maintenance items, filter etc, thanks, any info would be great!

Rovers North should be able to get you everything that the local dealer can't (due to market restrictions on certain parts).

How bad is the smoke?

its bad! i am sure the guy behind me is thinking way this 30 year old truck is still on the road(if he only knew it only 2 years old) its not blinding but she's leaving her signature about a 1/4 of a block behind her, thing is that once its warmed up, it all goes away, even if i rev it up, no smoke. the temp here in chicago is about mid 20's in the morning, not sure if this could be having some effect on it...

Sniffing around the internet several sources say that the oil filter on these Ford engines is the same as the Ford Transit 3.2 diesel.
Napa 7502 is listed for the 3.2.

yup, thats what i told service manager, but he said its a LR motor, says it right on top, ford has been out of the picture for some time, it all rover, i just kept mouth shut but i was sure that its a ford engine from all the reading i did this past year..

I couldn't have bitten my lip with that level of stupidity. They must have had a special delivery of it from Land Rover that day.

It boggles my mind you went to a LR dealership at all. X2 on go to Ford. No way in hell any LR dealer here has ever seen much less worked on Td4's

I thought it was still under warranty, so i figured its best to take it there, but they said that it had expired on 10/30/17. Apparently they only have a 2year warranty on the drivetrain not the typical 3/36. I found that strange, he gave me a print out and also told me that corrosion warranty is still good and they will cover it here in the states. I asked about getting a extended warranty, but have not heard back yet..

This might clear things up a bit for you

aha I was wondering which vehicle this was

Yup, I took the plunge, I looked at a few older trucks, I just don't have the time with work, work, work and family to deal on building or working on a older one at this time in my life, i needed something that the wife would approve of fast and was hopefully reliable, not that any newer vehicle is a guarantee, but i thought my odds where better and cheaper this route, plus it just plain cool!! I am still in the market for a MOD LHD early 90's 110 2 door that i can use as my service truck as i travel across the U.S.

Damn 2 year warranty? That is the worst I have ever heard of on a new vehicle, any you were expired by less then 1 month? I would consider getting on the horn with LR corporate. I have had luck with other manufacturers corporate before (Nissan, Subaru).

New US ones are 4yrs/50k. Looks like LR UK is 3yrs.

So just going to bury your head in the sand about the legality of said vehicle? I still think you're nuts to consider a "blacker than grey"-market Puma cheaper than a well built, legal vehicle.

But to each their own.

I guess you really have to understand how the US/Mexico border works, its a daily thing in those parts. US to Mexico and Mexico to US, as long as you have all your ducks in a row, your good. I would like to think i made a educated choice, and i know laws can change, but if things go south, I can always take it back and sell it, these are just as popular in Mexico as they are here, But lets get back on track here if we can, anyone with any idea why the smoke on start up? I looked at some of the UK forums, some say its somewhat normal for this engine to blow smoke in the cold temps, that blue smoke is unburnt diesel?

This is really not the right forum. You would need to go to a UK centric forum.

It will need to be hooked up to a computer so that you can first see if all the sensors are working correctly.

Mexican citizenship, Mexican plated vehicle. This is one of the few cases where there is not really an issue. I have guys at work with mexican plates on their work trucks, you'll see big rigs with the same. Mexico plates, Quebec plates.

If it was a US plated Td4 you'd be correct.
