Jedelmann and I are headed to Alaska this summer (departing mid July) and would love to meet up with fellow members along the way. Our tentative route is either:

Phoenix - Ely NV - Boise - Spokane - Enter Canada
or
Phoenix - Kanab - SLC - Idaho Falls - Great Falls - Enter Canada

Once in Canada we will head up thru Dawson and to Denali. Coming home we will take the western route and re-enter the US south of Abbotsford.

If you are along our path please message me your contact info and location. We will be sure to keep this thread updated as we get closer to our departure date.

Thanks, Dave. I'd also ask if anyone has suggestions on must-do trails, must- experience sights or must-go restaurants along the trail options, please let us know as our itinerary is flexible and we'd love any input. Thanks.

If you haven't been to Colorado City on the UT/AZ border, stop for groceries at the market there. You'll have fun.

Stuff to do...
- I have heard even for non-mormons that the SLC Temple is a must see.
- Antelope Island in the GSL.
- Skyline Drive (gravel "trail") above Bountiful gives a great view of the valley.
- Shooting Star Saloon - best nasty burgers.

- This might be of interest as well.

Plenty of other stuff but if you are just passing through that is a good start.
I PM'd you my contact info.

Why not go one route on the way up and the other on the way back if there is enough time?

Welcome home gentlemen. Just in case you were wondering who Ms. J. Holmes was, we started following the other day with my wife's tracebook account. Don't ask ;-)

Looks like it was an amazing trip! And just so the Napa quotes are saved for posterity;

"All I want to do is punch you truck!"- Javelinadave (sung to the Sheryl Crow tune)

"You know, I think diesel fuel actually tastes better than this listerine."- Jedelmann (after attempting to clear a fuel line and then wash away the taste)

I followed most of the trip on Facecrack.

Epic.
The pictures dont do it justice I'm sure.

Wish I could get 3 or 4 weeks off in a row. :)

Ha! Great memories of the Villa Romano restaurant parking lot. The funny part of that was I'm trying to diagnose and fix why John's turbo was providing boost and people kept stopping to chat about how cool the trucks were. The actual quote from my singing was "All I want to do is punch someone. I've got a feeling I'm not the only one" because whoever designed the lower intercooler hose attachment point hates mechanics and people without skinny arms and hands.
When it was fixed we celebrated with a round of Monster drinks and cookies! Again David, thanks for all your hospitality and support.
