Parking Light Circuit

Does anyone know where a good pick off point is for an extra dash light circuit in the cab?

I want to light my center gauges, and my switches, but having trouble tracking down where that power actually comes from? If I'm unable to find one in the center dash, what would be the nearest point that is not in the dash?

any white wire behind the speedometer cluster gauges will work for a low amp LED assembly that is switched and will come on when the truck is on. Or you can take 12v from the gauge lighting circuit also behind the gauges ...it s a daisy chained red with white stripe wire that goes from bulb to bulb mounted in each gauge. Then the lighting will only come on when you have the gauge lights on.

This is all assuming that the lighting you are putting in is very low power consumption.

The center dash clock, wiper switch and cigarette lighter are all on different circuits that
I wouldnt use for lighting

If you’re talking about your 1988 110, find the red/white wire in the center dash and you are good to go.

Napalm, I'm hoping to not have to dig in behind the dash, especially the main instrument cluster.

Factoid, I thought I had remembered the same thing, but now I'm not finding anything there. I may have tucked it in behind the main cluster.....

I'm looking to do three VDO instruments, and six Carling switches. I might add one or two LEDs just to back light the heater controls or something.

Look on the backside of the six pin bullet connector. That?s where I found mine in my 1988 90. I used it to illuminate my new clock, voltmeter, and lighter socket. Even if it wasn?t used, the standard harness should have the feed:

As above all dash light power is from Red/White wires. This is the correct circuit that comes from the dash light switch...... Do not use any other wires.

All wiring follow the British wiring standard for colors. Life is easier if you understand this. Every British made vehicle follows these rules.

Thanks. I think I found one that will work. It may be just an extra, or it could be the one that is supposed to be over in the center, and I tucked it in wrongly.

One way or another, it happens to be behind the speaker near the wiper motor, so even though I'll need to run a line behind the dash, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it without dismantling anything. (My goal is to not have to fool with the dash now or ever if I can help it. So I'm putting all my accessories into the center console.) Once I get these lamps wired, I'll be able to permanently fix the dash as it is supposed to be!

I'm pretty sure it won't be trouble (pulling too may amps) adding three or four VDO instrument lamps -- right?

If you pull up the plastic package tray liner that is inside the dash and behind your Ac vents. You will see the main harness coming off of the fusebox. There should be a red with white stripe here.

I have mine apart, I'll take a pic in a few

As you can see they even have the little multiplug connectors on them, one for center dash lights, one for ground. It can be buried and pushed down pretty far

That's what I'm looking for. Maybe I'm just not seeing it behind the dash vent tunnel thing. I might just need to pull the truck out into daylight to actually find this!!

It's under a large flat plastic liner that runs the entire length of the inside of the package tray/dash
