Old Man Emu shock/spring replacement

I am replacing stock shocks and springs on a 1997 NAS 90. Looking for feedback on how I have the washers and bushings test fit on the rear. Looks kindof clunky to me...

something is up. you should have two washers with a raised inner center lip. These go on the inner side against the steel truck mount with the raised inner lip centering them in the hole and the "dish" of the washer going towards the rubber. Thick washer with no centering lip goes on the shock body side and the nut side with the "dish" of the washer again facing the rubber.

Yours look like cups that are way too high . See pics in the link below

EDIT: just saw that this was NAS, it may be different than I know. others should chime in.

Something does not look right. Here is what mine look like. As Napalm mentioned above, there is a washer on both sides of the rubber bushing.

The 1997 has cups in place
To hold the upper and lower bushings. The thin “washers” Supplied with the Old Man Emu shocks do not seat down into the cups. I suppose the cups could limit how much the bushings compress as the large washer may be stopped by e cups, the way I have it set up now.

The original set up of the ‘97 is slightly different than earlier 90’s.

I don't see how the shocks could move or flex at all with those cups in place it's so close. I would probably just knock them off myself

They can be a mutha-f'er to get off (depends on how many spot welds) but I've done it on a few axles and feel it's better to have them off.

Besides less flex and movement, the spot welded stock cups are a rust haven.

I removed my cups. Drill out little spot welds, metal chisel and bfh

I decided to run eye to eye on my classic to help with binding. You just need remove the cups and put in lower mounts.
