Hey, there -
I'm a long time Land Rover owner that is known to many of you over the last three plus decades... admittedly, I'm new to this site. That's not to say that I haven't spent the better part of my internet lifetime (i.e. many times a day) visiting and posting to various Land Rover websites. It just happens that there used to be another *competing* Defender site that seems to have had a drastic reduction in participants since its refresh, which has led me to sign up here.
At any rate, I miss a lot of normalcy in life, as I'm sure many of you do... which has led me to think about hosting a virtual Land Rover rally. It may not be anything like the ones I've attended (Rovers North '91; Greek Peak; ROAV's drive-in The Gods Must Be Crazy; BSROA Plymouth event; launch of the NAS110, NAS90, NAS90SW, NAS automatic, 2020 "New Defender"; countless British Invasions; etc.) I have no idea how to go about this or what it might look like. I'm not looking to replicate the frustration that comes with work-related meetings and client conferences, but since interstate travel is discouraged and so many of us thrive on socialization, maybe between the group of us we can come up with a fun, novel idea?
I do have one request... and that is, we agree to make it some kind of fundraising event that benefits our local communities. Rather than require a certain amount, maybe a suggested donation of (at least) $5.00? Looking forward to sharing ideas and connecting with many of you.
