Now here's a gremlin I didn't expect...

And I didn't see this in the wiring diagram...

In another thread, I was working on chasing down the gremlin in my tail/brake lights. I thought I had it fixed, then today, they went out again. I hate intermittent problems.

Tail lights are on the same circuit as the reversing light. That was working fine, so I knew I had a good fuse and power. Both circuits are actually connected to the brake switch (not sure why), and that has tasted good. So confusing.

I was looking for a loose connection and I noticed something very weird, that I did not expect at all. For some reason, if the back door is open, the lights go off. Make sure the door is securely closed, the lights go back on.

It is not the switch that controls the dome light. I worked that switch by hand, and it made no difference. If the door was open, the lights were off.

There is no mention of this in the wiring diagram. I could not find another switch.

If anyone knows anything about this, I'm all ears. If I notice things out again, my first "check" will be to slam the door.

There’s only one switch for the rear door, so if that isn’t causing your lights to go out, it’s something else. I wonder if you have a ground issue or wiring damage that the door wiring harness is tugging on when the door moves.
