i don't think i've seen an ARB that crusty...

New bulkhead, foot well, probably seat box and battery box, new everything on the chassis, new cappings, new hardware throughout, new exhaust. Doors are probably toast which then leads to a repaint... Strip and repowder coat arb and axles. Probably close to 10-15k in parts alone probably closer to 20K as i would probably have all suspension and and steering components new, along with wiring, and fuel tank. This is not including paint and labor.
So 65K for the start of the project.

Never seen that much rot on rock sliders. That truck is at the point where you either enjoy what useful life it has left before a total rebuilt is unavoidable, or you view it as a base for total rebuild now. It's all or nothing. Either way, it's going to eventually cost someone 80k.

Just my view here, but you can patch and hack for years and years. Before the prices got stupid, this was the life of the majority of series trucks and ROW land rovers. It’s been the life of my 90 for a couple decades. Yes, she needs a new rear crossmember but the holes are not hurting anything. Yes, the floor board I patched with sheet metal from a used dryer and self tapping screws. Yes, there is duct tape. Yes, she has “new” doors and the paint does not match. Yes, the front fender has cracked bondo in it. Yes, she leaks. Oil out and water in. A lot. All that being said it does not impede my enjoyment, I think it rather furthers it as I don’t have to worry.

I mean you have to lay eyes on the truck in person to know how bad it really is, but not all trucks end up getting full rebuilds and you don’t really need to do that if you just want something to drive around.

On a side note, I sent a bunch of pretty rusty stuff with @WreckITFrank to get galvanized, and it came back quite nice so I bet the ARB, sliders are save-able and you can often patch cappings rather than replace (although I got lazy and replaced mine. Plus, it’s black so cans of black appliance epoxy work fine for touch ups and new panels. After a while with some fade and dirt they all look the same.

Personally I’d be embarrassed to drive it in current condition. And I can’t imagine letting any vehicle I own to go that far.

That can be a difficult route depending where the patches are necessary, but it doesn't cost much and will extend what useful life it has left.

Look at those sliders though

Ok sliders are toast. Looks like the side steps I took off.

You do have to lay eyes on things though and a truck like this is exactly why I like galvanized parts. People are always like “why are those things grey/silver?”

$40k seems a lot unless you have another $40k to drop on a new chassis, cosmetics, power train.
Having seen $250k plus dropped on these trucks, $80k is nothing.
