I have both. A new '23 D90, and a new-to-me 1998 110, LHD.
It goes without saying, but the new D90 is an
infinitely better vehicle and is one of the most fun vehicles I've ever driven. It's outrageously fast for what it is (the P400 engine in the 90 is nutty), is incredible off-road, and looks great. I have a relatively base model with coilovers, off-road package, very few upgrades apart from the P400 engine. In the small Land Rover community it's universally hated by people that seemingly think it's hip to put people down and don't realize that getting their keyboard-warrior on and railing against the New Defender just makes you very common. Dime a dozen in the off-road, LR world. There are very few original Defender owners who have commented anything positive, and they stand out because it's usually a noteworthy event. Personally I really don't care about the weird hatred because the truck is amazing.
I've off-roaded my D90 all across the United States in the two years I've had it. Utah, New Mexico, Nebraska (Halsey National Forest sand dunes), Broken Bow Oklahoma, Texas, Northern Michigan and all over Ohio.
The '98 110 everyone here knows all about.
Based on getting the 110 out, the other 99.99% of the world loves the old Defender, probably a shade more than my new one, but almost anyone that doesn't own an original Defender loves the new one too.
