Need fastener recommendation for plastic

Need some help finding a fastener for a trim piece on my Jeep. Figured this a good place to ask with the skunkworks skillsets I see around here.

Front grill piece originally held by tabs. All ground off to easily remove piece for access. I put the block heater plug behind it, to hide when not in use. Originally used magnets but epoxy just doesn't hold in the cold when pulling off.

Anyone have any ideas on a crafty way to attach? I searched out things that pop out and twist, home speaker grill like attachments, rubber cord as a tether. None with any luck.

Thanks gents.

Thanks for all the input. I guess we are talking 5200/construction adhesive to hold the magnets on to the plastic? Didn't think about Velcro, good call.

This is what we use at the dealership. We used it for a recall on LR4s that involve reattaching the headlamp washer jets to the inside of the bumper.

I think ya'll are missing the part where the cover needs to come on and off. If not I would say Sikaflex.

Thought he was looking for the ultimate glue to re attach the magnets

yup, i ordered a 3oz tube of 5200 to give it shot. Have some good velcro on standby as well. So far liquid nails, gorilla epoxy, permatex plastic epoxy, and some other crappy Home Depot stuff failed. I probably got some magnets that are a bit too strong, and will certainly get ones with countersunk holes for screws if all else fails.

5200 takes a while to cure but if you have cleaned and scuffed the surfaces being glued before applying it will be the strongest adhesive you have ever used. We use it on defenders

Used both sikaflex and the 3m products on boats over the years. Both have several different specialized products available. We used Sikaflex to caulk the joints between teak decking planks on decks where a leak would mean water damage inside the boat.
5200 is used to glue deck fixtures like cleats, railing stanchions, hawse pipes, etc to gell coated fiberglass, bare or painted metals (bronze, stainless, steel, aluminum) and wood
equally. If you get it on your self or your clothes, the clothes are ruined and it will have to wear off of your skin. I truly would only use it where you need a permanent bond.
I lean towards the 3m stuff because its in every hardware store in coastal area's in both black and white and quick cure or regular. The Sikaflex stuff I've had to seek out and order online. We did a set of the Masai Panoramic windows years ago and the adhesive that came with the kit was an amazing fast setting windshield adhesive made by Sikaflex. Both companies make wicked strong adhesives.

We use SL-1100 (bostik) in our construction jobs. Also one of the Sikaflex products but forget which specifically.

Polyethylene, Polypropylene, fiberglass etc.

Our jobs are constantly around gasoline, gasoline vapors, diesel, etc.

It gets the jobs done.
