MOD Puma Dash Upgrade Feedback / Reviews

Likely going this route for my RHD to LHD conversion on a 110 HCPU. Anyone actually have the MOD Puma Dash upgrade that can speak to its quality or lack thereof?

I have their puma dash installed in my truck along with their heat/air setup. In general - money well spent. They were easy to work with and communicated throughout the process, answered all of my questions along the way, shipped on time/packed well. Install went smoothly overall.

In general, no complaints - price is right, quality is solid.

I've had two aftermarket Puma dashes come through the shop (same truck, both supplied by owner). The first was a Monarch and promptly returned. Not sure how they even allow that type of quality to be sold. The second was the MOD kit w/ AC system. It was worlds better over the Monarch, but still was a bit funky. Some fine tuning/trimming was required, an acceptable part of the project. I had some missing and incorrect parts, which were difficult to be replaced or swapped out via MOD. If I recall correctly we were sent the wrong heater valve in the original shipment and the same incorrect valve sent as a replacement. half the length of AC hose was sent and not enough AC hose ends, forcing a local scavenger hunt for more length (not easy in Maine). Instructions were a youtube video which were ok, I still can't get over the method they suggest to close the vent flaps (hacked up piece of metal). In the end I still had to custom fabricate a lot of little bits for this project to be acceptable. I'd probably install another one, but need heavy persuasion.

Hmm. Good to know and thanks for the feedback.

I’ve got it in boxes on the shelf so no turning back now. I opened / inspected everything..quality seemed ok maybe a little flimsier than I’d hoped, but thinking once it’s all bolted together and in place it’ll have more rigidity..

It’ll be a while until I get it installed but will definitely give my thoughts when it’s all done..

I’ve installed a few and they feel very cheap, but it’s also a cheaper alternative to a legit LHD dash. If the vehicle was already LHD, the MOD puma dash would be a huge downgrade.

Every one I have done has also included their ac kit. The ac is comically bad when coupled with their dash. It also has no provisions for footwell vents when using the heat. If you’re building to sell and want to do it as cheaply as possibly while still being able to advertise that it is LHD and has ac, MOD is the way to go

Definitely building to keep, and would have rather had the orig rover dash setup; as I both appreciate the simplicity and originality of what was present from the factory. I got yanked around so much by people that said they had the dash bits, that i just threw in the towel and went for a sure thing with MOD. In the end Im telling myself it was the right decision (since I already bought the stuff). Thinking with the Puma AC setup and being installed in a truck cab that It should be pretty chilly in the summertime.

Thanks for the feedback

My biggest issue with my MoD aircon is the complete and utter lack of insulation and sealing so anything cold blowing in... goes right out. Seeing that you're building from scratch that shouldn't be an issue for you.

Yes, Installed my around sept / october. some of my build pix in my instagram. @braveheart_d90

I also created some 3d print files to meet my needs - stl's available if wanted.

Quality - I give 4.5 stars - well made, well packaged

Ease of install...much easier than my chassis swap or r2.8 conversion...tooks some reconfig of my radiator/FMIC cooling package and routing of new lines.
I did have to purchase some additional AC hose for my routing needs around the r2.8. I also had to modify some coolant lines on my r2.8 for the box to fit.

Function - have not had 100 degree weather to test the AC yet....but it blows cold on the days I was able to use it. Heater function works great - havent needed to use my webasto knock off diesel heater this winter....the MoD has been sufficient.... other than the 4degree weather...used the diesel heater for a little boost to keep my wife warm and toasty.

For the dash - I kept my 1988 dash...mostly (vs going full Puma). Used Raptor Engineering center console and binnacle. modified the knee panel by removing the top piece and internal cable actuated flaps. I printed a manifold to fit in the knee panel area, but converted to 1.75 and 2.5 hoses. 2.5 for dash vents, 1.75 for defroster hoses. I aslo printed a passenger side window defroster vent.

I do recommend it!

I'm starting to think something is wrong with my heater setup. I feel like I'm always cold. My truck runs at around 185f.

my truck runs at about 178 and MOD heater runs great!...rarely have to use fan higher than 1 or 2 setting.

there was/is a "winter / summer" knob on the side of my MOD heater box. not any mention of it in manuals...I end up leaving mine on summer..but there is a winter setting. I noticed that on winter setting - AC will not kick on the compressor. also verify that your have the heater hoses hooked up correctly in/out (i wouldnt think it to make a big difference though

I wonder if it's the valve I use for opening and closing coolant flow. That summer winter knob is currently set for winter for the compressor.

Possibly? I did use the switched valve, but didn’t use the 1-way flow valve on the return
