Heya Chris,

Whats your take on the Michelin XZL's vs the BFG's for my Tithonus? I have worn 7.5x16's currently.

Great site btw!!

I've run both extensively and to be honest, I can't tell the difference in street driving characteristics in my 110. Where I see the real difference is off-road. The handling is basically the same off-road, too, but the durability of the XZL is a phenomenal improvement over the BFGs. I've flatted multiple KM2s and so have others in my party but I've never seen an XZL flat (knock on wood). The sidewalls are so strong that you could definitely drive them flat to get to safety.

Good to know, thanks. On that run-flat notion, i know my original wolf tires have an internal run-flat band inside that i'm told needs to be dismantled with an allen wrench (and a small hand to access it while deflated) when changing tires. I assume this is something specific to the wolf wheel and not actually the tire itself?

Yeah, there's no band like that inside an XZL. It's just a really heavy duty tire.

Reminder to all: Friday is the deadline. Speak now or forever drive your BFGs.

http://www.tyron-usa.com/products/ these are decent. The set of bands that came in my MoD released XZYs on 1 ton rims had similar. There is a really nifty spider looking removal device which pushes the tire down. It works well on anything but the 14 ply sidewalls on the G range XZYs.

I was told to send a message again in six weeks. I'm ok with that. I think container delivery was about 3 months out.

Wait, so the container with the deadline of this Friday is now at least six weeks from shipping?

I don't know. She said that someone else bought the last set of in stock tires and that she expected to order more for the container. I don't know if they were already ordered or what. But she said they were 3 months out and that I should email her again in 6 weeks.

OK. I suspect she realized the demand and probably just snagged the rest of what was available but is holding off on putting names or a price on them.

Chris, you do realize that you now have enough XZLs to last you till you are like 113 years old right?

I'm running out of places to hide them in the house. Basement storage area has stacks. Garage has a stack. If I was a billionaire, I'd be like Nelly and his Air Force Ones and never run the same set twice.
