Mesh or wire front grille

Yeah right now I'm leaning towards the cheap Brit part one. The honeycomb one is nice but really wouldn't match the look of my truck I'm not really an aesthetics person, but it would definitely stick out.

I would kill for a stage one V8 grill (two of them actually).
Not that big a deal to find comparable mesh and then mod common one for close match. I agree that it's the best look with good flow and improved durability over stock.

I really wish it would fit my truck.. My front mount intercooler is literally on the back of the frame. I had to remove the lower mounts that this would screw into to make it fit.

I am an idiot. I thought the stage one was the same metal as earlier series, but it appears to be a cheaper mesh. I have several banged up series grills I can cut up to make one that has the series mesh, but that is a day’s work at least. Hmmm.

I understand the kink weave works really well if you put a push-on welting around the outside of it. Not sure if that makes it attractive and finished enough for external mounting but it covers all the cut wires and makes it easier to mount/isolate.

I plan to weld the round stock around the outside.

I have the tools. I have a bender sufficient for round stock for the outer edge, I have the welder, grinder etc.

Anyone have a link to the mesh that matches the series grills before I chop up a few old grills? The solid bar stock is easy to find, just need to measure what’s on there. What was going to be the hardest, or at least most time consuming was going to be patching the mesh together from a few donor grills because that’s a bunch of welds and grinding. If there is mesh that matches, then it is just bending and welding the mesh to the round stock.

i dont know the difference between standard and extra rigid besides the bar diameter and price

There’s a guy in England who primarily makes reproduction Series grilles. He’s also starting to make them for Stage Ones/Defenders but uses the series style mesh.,
I’m rather liking his work. Not cheap though. His S1 units are 300 pounds….

That material is perfect really. I love the look. I would need one with small tabs welded to the outside edges so I could attach it to the vertical line of bolts on each side. My bottom tabs are missing

Do you have a link to the UK guy. That’s the one I want. I can’t weld stainless so the McMaster links would not work.
