Looking for a Land Rover Perentie 110 4x4 to adopt.

Hi all,

Does anyone have an Australian Land Rover Perentie 110 4x4 that is in original condition that they would be willing to sell or have good advise regarding the smartest way to obtain one and what pitfalls to avoid?

Thank you

Perenties are awesome, and seem to be comparatively affordable, but they are something of an odd duck in the US.

The thing to keep in mind is that they have a completely different engine (Isuzu Diesel) and different body panels and other random parts compared to other defenders (already a rare bird in the US). If you are determined and resourceful or have deep pockets, then go for it!—but just know what you are getting into. And yes, I would take a 6x6 for a camper platform.

Thanks for your reply. Determined, Resourceful perhaps but no deep pockets. I'm learning quite a bit about them and have lots more to learn of course. Cheers!

Where are you and what's your budget? I keep an eye out and I have a 1991 RFSV variant. I will say, the Isuzu is awesome and makes great power with a turbo. Mine has four wheel disc brakes, turbo, and the "nor force" HD front axle.

Hi,

I'm located in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.
Not sure re budget, I see that Perinties in Australia are about 17k-20k plus cost to import 3-4k? I dont know about the "nor force" front axle. I know some about the turbos that can be added like a Garrett KLR sells. I'd be ok buying without turbo and maybe add it at a later date.

Yours sounds nice. Send a picture if you like. How did you go about getting yours? Can you shed any light on the best way to find one in Australia, make sure it's good and how to handle the purchase process in a safe way.

Thanks

mine's available for sale. '89 FFR with "shark fin" snorkel, new tires, Koni shocks, new battery, Team Perentie Bikini and Canvas seat Covers. Alloy rims off of a Disco1. SE Alabama. imported in 2019 currently has 119k km on the odometer.$25k firm. I think you're pretty light on the cost to import unless prices have dropped or you tackle it yourself. Pics available but wouldn't load here for some reason (too big error message). Only selling because it's just not getting driven much since I got a Grenadier

I have one available, as well, in the Northeast. I agree, I think your budget is a little light, I imported mine in early 2022. Shipping has only gotten worse since then. Also, if you factor in what are the necessary upgrades, in my opinion, like the turbo kit / power steering at a minimum, your budget may have to move higher. Just my two cents though.... I am an amateur at best.
