Something else to remember. Even when these were being built new in the factory from OEM parts they were of somewhat questionable quality and design. They have a reputation for being easy to fix in the bush because they often had to be fixed in the bush. The problem with someone claiming to build a Defender from all new parts is now you're dealing with a lot of aftermarket parts that might be better than original, or might be worse. It might look like a Defender on the outside, but it's really just a collection of parts from all over the world all moving in formation. Again, it comes down to the quality and talent (and ethics) of the person doing the build - do they know when to use aftermarket and when to use OEM, and do they know which aftermarket parts to use?
