Legacy NAS vs. New Osprey Build

Something else to remember. Even when these were being built new in the factory from OEM parts they were of somewhat questionable quality and design. They have a reputation for being easy to fix in the bush because they often had to be fixed in the bush. The problem with someone claiming to build a Defender from all new parts is now you're dealing with a lot of aftermarket parts that might be better than original, or might be worse. It might look like a Defender on the outside, but it's really just a collection of parts from all over the world all moving in formation. Again, it comes down to the quality and talent (and ethics) of the person doing the build - do they know when to use aftermarket and when to use OEM, and do they know which aftermarket parts to use?

Here’s the actual quote. I got curious and looked it up.

This, milord, is my family's axe. We have owned it for almost nine hundred years, see. Of course, sometimes it needed a new blade. And sometimes it has required a new handle, new designs on the metalwork, a little refreshing of the ornamentation . . . but is this not the nine hundred-year-old axe of my family? And because it has changed gently over time, it is still a pretty good axe, y'know. Pretty good.
I had a philosophy professor in college (cough LR owner on this or the other forum) who gave us a similar question in class. Moving a boat from 1 side of the yard to the other piece by piece. Is it the same boat? What if every part was replaced? lol
