Facing a leaky injector pump on my 300 tdi. Looks to be the o ring. I have the parts from tdi guys - viton o ring, caps and special bolt to keep it all together.
I have reviewed the posts and videos from tdi guys as well.
Any advice or lessons before I dive in. I know it can be much bigger mess if I screw it up.

Appreciate any insight or advice.

Cheers
Mark

I'm guessing you have looked on YouTube but these guys have a lot of videos Land Rover Toolbox Videos
It looks like any other job with lots of parts. Keep track of everything and take lots of pictures so you can put it back together. Also take your time.
Good Luck!

Tricky to do in-situ, but simple on the bench. Take your time and watch for hardened residue holding parts together on disassembly.

I just did this and the thought of doing it in situ makes me cringe. Doing it cleanly is critical and would be almost impossible while in the truck if it was anything like my filthy pump.

Taking the pump out is easy, not much more than a timing belt. Just lock it in place with a pin and remove it.

I put tape over the whole back side to help slide the O-ring on.

On a side note, it is worth setting the pump lift with a dial indicator. I've found that it is very easy to get the belt 1 tooth off and you'd never know without setting the lift. All the pins can fit and get no where near the factory settings.

would anyone in the NOVA area have the diesel timing kit for a 300 TDI that could be borrowed.
looking at the vids, removal of FIP doesn't look daunting, if the right kit is used.

appreciate the input and hope there is a generous and equipped NOVA mate out there.

thanks
