Land Rover 5.0L oil alternatives

A few days ago I was looking at the workshop manual and noticed that Land Rover now (I don't think they did in the past) gives a spec for oil for the 5.0L motor. In the past it has always been the Castrol Edge OE that is specially made for Jaguar Land Rover. It appears that Mobile 1 5w20 meets the WSS-M2C925-A spec. There are also probably other oils out there that meet that spec.

I ended up using Castrol Syntec 5W20 last time around, its at least on par with M1 according to everything I have read. I am honestly not worried about it in the slightest. I think the Edge OE is really formulated for super long change intervals, I am doing mine every 6 months (about 7500 mi) so any extended performance oils would just be a waste anyways.

I'm no engineer, so I couldn't tell you what difference it makes. I was assume it has to do with what type of metal the engine components utilise. If it were mine, I would be using the Castrol Edge OE 0w20, for which there is no alternative.
