Injector pump question

Hello all. I was wondering what the effects are by rotating the injector pump plunger forward or backwards on a 200di. The punch I have read should face the engine block. Mine was turned clockwise about 1/4 turn. When I went back to factor setting and turned it back 15%-20% it greatly reduced my black smoke on to the hard floor acceleration.

I also get a little white smoke at start that goes away pretty quickly after driving which I'm told is normal. I would though like to eliminate this smoke at start. Can this be done with this technique. Can any damage be done by turning this back a bit?

thanks for posting. I wonder if turning it back a bit to reduce smoke can cause problems since It would be under fueling a bit right?

Does any change to the plunger position help in any way with white smoke at start. Goes away after it warms up.

Have tried everything at this point and a left with the IP as the cause.
