Ideas for ex-military storage liners

The jerry can storage units on my 110 3 door have enough space to store a lot of stuff, however they are not only not waterproof, they are quite open to the elements and mud spray as there is no walls on 2 sides.

I have jerry can storage elsewhere, so I wanted to use the two boxes as tool and supply storage, but it is continually filthy and wet in them right now.

Anyone have any nifty ideas for waterproofing these? Was hoping someone made a plastic insert I could just buy.

cheers, Dave

Build one out of HDPE. I have my second battery and spare fluid storage in my left hand one.

But, with that being said. The elements aren't really going to hurt something like a battery. They live in some pretty nasty areas all the time on other vehicles.

I have my dual battery system on a pull out tray on the left. Used rubber mats to skirt the back and sides. Doesn’t hold up to submersion but keeps road spray and dirt out.

From your Instagram it look like you guys are using the Icarus all the time. Glad it's working out for you guys.

The one from eBay appears to be genuine, it is quite a bit more protective than mine and would definitely be easier to skirt. All great ideas. Wonder if I could just yank out mine and put in one of those nice stainless steel ones...

We are loving the Icarus. It took awhile to adjusting to actually sleeping inside the truck, and we have quite a bit of interior finishing to do but pretty stoked about it so far.

BTW, my instagram is @expeditiondefenders

cheers, Dave

The ebay one is the Wolf version. It is different than the pre-Wolf ones. The doors were different as well. You "might" be able to get a used Wolf one if you talk to the right people in the Medicine Hat area.

I didn't know about the aftermarket ones either. I like those. My biggest issue is making the door seal really well. I am going to rebuild my battery side at some point. Other side has my jerry cans ,so I am not really going to do anything on that one.

I had been planning to do something like Boswalt and make it pull out for the batteries, but got lazy and sidetracked with other projects and never did.

Hope to see you guys at some point. I really am interested in checking the Icarus out. Drop me a line next time you swing down this way.

I'd make a pull out tray.
Options include a deep cycle battery bank with solar panel voltage controller.

Why not go to a sheet metal shop and have them brake you a box with a back and open front? Both sides are the same, just put the back on the opposite side.
Probably not water tight but it will close off the rest of the it. All you have to do is remove and spray out for cleaning. Very light and no modification needed. Vehicle stays in original form.
I was gonna do this and sell them but life gets in the way.

Forgot to say if someone makes a set they owe me one for the idea!!! Just kidding
