Fuel Pump

I definitely have pressure when I take the cap off, but the humming seems to imply that maybe the seal is compromised. It's no Apollo 13 venting to atmosphere, but something doesn't sound right. I have a new one coming, so I'll see what happens.

To close this chapter, it was, or is seeming to be, the fuel cap. Out with the old, in with the new, and no venting. It turns out the old one was pretty well knackered compared to how tight the new one ratchets down. Thanks for the suggestion. It’s nice when it’s easy.

Were you having hard start problems like the OP or just the humming issue?

Just the humming. I think it may actually not have been solved with a new cap. It's better but not perfect as of yesterday, so I'm keeping an ear on it for a bit before I decide to look at other issues.
