I have to make a change. I'm tired of having too many projects. I want to continue working on my Land Rovers, but as a hobby, not as an emergency to get to work and to struggle over the cost. So, I'm downsizing the herd.... This RRC would be a good candidate for doing a bit of work to get it sorted to be a daily. I thought it might work out that I'd get it set up to with a bit of a lift, some cool lights, and a sorted interior. But it just isn't happening.
$5000 or offer. I'll take any offer seriously as long as you are serious about making the purchase.
The bad first:
The good:
The 4.2 I have sitting in the garage has no known history, but it has rebuilt (maybe new, honestly don't know) heads, and I think new or refurbished pistons. I've not touched it other than to check that it is not seized up, and to put a camera into the pistons, which do not look to have ever been run. I was waiting till the current engine dies before doing a full assessment, and making the swap. It will need to have a serpentine type front put on it, but should otherwise go in without much work.

I can get more if anyone is interested. I can deliver this truck to Oregon, most of Washington, maybe some dude in Boise wants it, but only till mid-September, then you have to come pick it up. I kind of hope it doesn't sell, and someone just comes and offers to buy the Defender instead.

The bad first:
- It almost certainly needs a new engine. It runs and drives fairly well, but a nasty knock begins once it warms up. I think it is a badly slipped liner, and although it doesn't lose much coolant, it certainly compresses the system, and is embarrassing to drive around where people can hear you coming...
- I think the transfer case is locked up, but maybe not all the time.
- The steering box seems to have a pretty bad leak. I just replaced all the steering hoses, fixing two leaks in the process. But there is still a good leak that looks like it is coming out of the bottom of the steering box. The fluid is coming out from under the box, and a puddle can be seen on top of the frame, under the steering shaft.
- It probably needs a new radiator, since it looks like there are some leaks. But I'm unsure how active they are.
- Probably needs new hoses here and there.
- The previous owner clipped all of the wires running to the brake pads! So although the brakes do work "fine", I seriously doubt the system is working as it should. Maybe that's why the ABS and TC lights are on?!?! HA!
- The SRS light is on.
- The floor carpets are the matching tan color, and they are showing their age.
- There is no rear cargo cover.
- The headliner is pretty bad, but not sagging into your view ....yet.
- The steering wheel is OK, unless you want to hold onto the 12 o'clock position....
- Front seats are comfortable, but ripped on the sides.
- Seat controls are disabled. I adjusted the driver's seat with the main motors, so they all work really well, it's just that the seat ECU is crapped out.
- No seat heat.
- Tailgate lift tabs are broken.
- There is a dent in the drivers side front quarter panel. I don't think it can be removed. But I think these are easy to replace.
- The paint actually looks fair, but really, it is very thin for some reason. You can actually see primer through parts of it!
- Rear window actuators seem to have recently stopped working, one rear window button in the front is broken.
- Bumper end caps are all iffy.
- Windshield is badly cracked.
- Tail lights aren't great looking.
The good:
- Even the tailgate isn't rusty. Some peeling paint that I'm going to see about fixing this week.
- The dash board is almost as perfect as it gets. No cracks.
- I think all of the buttons work.
- AC actually blows cold.
- It does start, run, drive, and stop. And although I think the engine is weak, it really drives fairly well!
- It still has the compressor and tank installed, but it has been swapped over to Bilstien shocks and springs.
- The remote control locks and alarm work. It does not always like to lock/unlock till you get right up to the vehicle, but it actually works!
- Rear seats are pretty nice.
- Only a few 1000 miles on new plugs, wires, and distributor.
- Few 1000 miles on new alternator.
