Front external shock mount options - 2024 edition

Does anyone still make external front shock mounts these days? I’ve been searching around but it’s been difficult to turn anything up! All the forum threads talk about the old names who’ve since closed up shop. And googling is equally as baron on the topic! There must be someone out there still producing something.

Alternative is posting in the wanted section but I’d love to support someone still making these.

I attached a few photos of the style I’m looking for. I’m not opposed to needing to cut the inner fender.

I've seen a tubular style recently from a vendor that pushes it outboard, I'll try to remember where. Why are you wanting to move away from the inboard shock setup?

TF makes the tubular one, Lucky8 has them(as a dual setup)

That being said, I'm seconding Ash's question on this one. You can go pretty tall on the RTE adjustables if you need, this is the 2nd lowest setting

Is that the new style RTE mount? Maybe they’re better than the old style - I was never happy with the old style. I wasn’t able to go quite high enough and I found it to have quite a bit of flex in it. Here’s a photo of the current setup with the old RTEs with 10” Fox 2.0’s

The other reason I’m looking to go outboard is it makes swapping shocks/spring much easier.

Yeah it's the Gen2 shock mount, I had them on my last 110 as well, no issues. Way better design than the first

It does look vastly improved. Thanks for the close-up shots and low-key galvy porn. They look like a great option if I can’t find anything external - And the adjustability is obviously a huge pro! I assume you had them galvanized? I don’t see that as an option - Not that it matters since we’ve got a pile o’ parts headed for the tank…

I had everything galvanized haha. If you hit up Simon, he can send you a set before they go to powdercoat, that's what I did

Hopefully you're not paying Mr. Browne by the hour for filing holes out/tapping/rethreading though, that sucked up days of my life.

Nice that’s a great idea.

lol. Noted - That is not the plan… But we are galvanizing as much a possible so I suspect I’ll be up there a few times doing my fair share :)

Are you actually swapping springs/shocks with a frequency that makes outboard mounting an option that improves your experience? I could see if you were wanting to go to a 2.5 shock, or had enough front end travel to where the shock was crashing into the spring perch, but neither of those seem to be the case. I personally would prefer to have the shock protected inside the coil, versus mounted forward and vulnerable to either a bent shaft or dented body.

What’s the theory here- how much more suspension travel do you get?

I'm pretty confident the radius arms will bind before you run out of shock clearance.

RAC makes them in a kit.
Probably would separate. I have towers with both internal and external shock mounts that the PO had used (had and expedition set up).

Gonna sand blast paint and then list them someday. For the heavy truck/dual shock crowd.
