Good luck to Doug on the sale (not sure if he's on here)!
We all keep & sell our cars for our reasons. I get where he's coming from.
My 3yo loooves "his" Defender - he rides in the front (thanks to no airbag).
Recently, he's seeing more Cybertrucks on our roads, and recently he proclaims the Cybertruck is his favorite truck! o_O

At root, Doug Demurro is more of a “quirky car” enthusiast than a Defender enthusiast, (and I don’t mean that as an insult) though the Defender classic is certainly a quirky car for many of the reasons he lays out in the video; his description of what Defender ownership is like is certainly realistic.

His video delivery style is undoubtedly grating to many, but I’ve followed him off and on since he was writing for Jalopnik and then Autotrader.com.

The article sequence about all of the things that went wrong with his full-size Range Rover and how much CarMax paid to fix them are classic. I actually bought a RRS from CarMax with warranty based on his example (ironically, my one Land Rover vehicle that never had any real issues)

I hope he sells it to someone that knows how operate the CDL before driving through a puddle.

Doug is definitely not a real off-roader, or someone who deeply understands the mechanics of how automobiles operate. But I have nothing but admiration for the business he’s built with “Cars and Bids.”

He did redeem himself somewhat from the puddle incident.

I like his passion, but the first half of that video was the longest and most repetitive "please don't hate me for doing x" I've ever skipped through. He'd clearly be better served by a 110 "beach runner".

Yeah, that was a bit much. I think it is natural for any high-volume “content producers” to end up spending a lot of time talking about themselves—because that is the easiest way to keep the content flowing and makes your repeat audience feel more connected to you. Definitely can be annoying if you are not a superfan; but at least Doug usually keeps his cars for a period of years, unlike Tyler “Hoovie” who changed cars every 30 seconds (and whom I’ve come to find even more annoying)

He definitely focuses content on the videos that make him money, but I've also been to Rausch creek with him (me on stage left in front of my old D3)

What tires me out listening to him is how he has to pronounce the whole name of the car he's reviewing 10,000x. Land-Rover-Defender or Toyota-Land Cruiser is painful to hear over and over and over again.

I was surprised by how soft he was after his response to posting on D-90 source years ago while being a youtube person. I don't think he was treated any differently than anyone else that posted similar questions or remarks but he has complained about it a number of times on his channel and podcasts.

And recently I watched him on a top 5 cars for a garage and he was downright arrogant (
)

But he does do a solid job overall in his car video and podcasts and very good for him for building up and selling Cars and Bids for such a good price. I have to say his send off video for his NAS 90 is well done and his reasons for selling and the pluses and minues about the 90 are spot on.

Doug's a cool guy and I wish him the best in his non LR ownership. I think he'll be back in a classic defender at some point. I've had the same family concerns come up from time to time and definitely get his reasons. He used to post over on DSource and was nothing but nice.

No matter how much he offroads or anyone's view of quality of offroading, purely from his videos he offroads more than 98% of actual owners.

Seems plenty of folks around here and the other board have done 10 times that 'unconscionable figure'.. LOL

6 years ago, 'professionally restored, fully repainted, interior redone, completely rust free'. Current condition isn't horrible (particularly for a Nantucket truck), but not great by any stretch. Okay, its pretty rough, under hood shots, wow.

Also wonder how many 'sins' are hiding under the Waxoyl application..

Curious what this 'celebrity owned', once restored '97 will go for..
