Door won't open

Before I start man handling and breaking things, I thought I would seek a little advice. My passenger door won't open. It seems like it is half way locked. I can not work the sill lock and the key won't turn the cylinder. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Spray a bunch of penetrating oil into the innards and try again.
What kind of door mechanism is it? Pictures always help.

Thanks that worked. I've never locked it before my passenger locked it and apparently it will and then shut. I could not pull the lock back up and I was worried about twisting the key off.

The insides of the locks get pretty grungy over time and require a good cleaning and lube. I'm glad it worked.

One of my new door locks was incredible stiff at first. Now its really eased up. Probably time to throw some silicon spray on it.

Assume spray brake cleaner and spray white lithium grease, along with a flexible hose, will do the trick??

There might be plastic pieces inside so I wouldn't use any brake cleaner unless you are sure it is all metal. I just PB-Blaster'ed it and then shot some lithium grease for good measures.

I had a sticky lock before and did all this (lubed, Wd-40), which freed the door but then my door wouldn't shut! Figures. Gotta love Defenders.

I finally got around to working on this. Just had to adjust the bolts on the linkage. Everything I have found says there are friction attachments for the door card. Mine just has these screw attachments. The bottom ones are all stripped and the housing just spins. I'm guessing I can just drill them out? Any idea what the part is? The top attachment has these plastic things that just spin. I'm not sure what to make of them and any input would be appreciated. You can see the rust in the bottom corner of the frame. It doesn't seem bad and is solid. Should I address this right now and if so what's my best course?

The black plastic things you say just turn, well they should be attached to the door card and pop into the yellow/white ones fitted to the door. The metal bracket also should be fixed to the card. Have looked at a parts diagram? Or are you exacting the urine??

The card was attached by 14 screws that went through the card into the plastic pushing in the door. About half were able to be backed out, but the rest would just spin. The four attachments on top appeared to be hot glued to the card. There are no attachments on the door card, just holes for the screw. There are no yellow/white attachments in the door, just the black housing that the screws went into. I have yet to find the diagram laid out this way.
