Hey all - Has anyone else with a Disco V experienced a leaking windshield? My 2017 has 24k miles on it and the windshield started leaking on my passenger.
I dropped it off with Rosenthal Land Rover in Tyson's Corner, VA the evening of Dec 1, and my service guy Kevin told me on Dec 2 that the windshield (Land Rover PN #LR106637) needs to be replaced/resealed and is on back order, with no ETA. I also noted it needed an alignment and the rear cubby didn't close consistently. I was heading out of town for the week, so they said they would work on the alignment and rear cubby while I was out of town. Logically I get it - removing glass from a vehicle usually results in breakage - so you want to have a windshield on hand if you are removing it.
I returned to Land rover the following Friday, expecting to pick my car up and was told it was still in service. They gave me a loaner and sent me on my way.
Fast forward to 12/13 & I get a VM/Text message that my car is done and ready to pick up... Including the windshield. I asked specifically about the windshield and was told "Yes sir. All done ". I went and picked up the car, paid for the alignment and came home.
Invoice reads:
CUSTOMER STATES CHECK FOR WATER INGRESS INTO CABIN - WATER LEAKING INTO PASS SIDE - CHECK CARPET, INTERIOR CHECK. FOUND RIGHT FRONT CORNER W/S SEAL NOT BONDING TO W.S. REMOVED WINDSHIELD AND REPLACED SEAL AND REINSTALLED
PART ON SPECIAL ORDER
** QUANTITY 1 IS SPECIAL ORDERED **
Today I happened to remove my smart tag & I was able to see adhesive under the smart tag where I had previously had another sticker attached to the windshield... Adhesive that wouldn't be on a new windshield. There were a few other indicators (nicks, etc) that it was the same windshield as before, but as I'd only had the car less than 60 days - I wrote those off as circumstantial and/or coincidental. The adhesive though... That affirms that I currently have the same windshield as when I originally dropped the car off on Dec 1.
Is it SOP to replace the windshield for this procedure, or only if the glass breaks?
Has a windshield been ordered as a warranty replacement under my VIN for my vehicle?
Has anyone else experienced this issue with a Disco 5?
