dehumidifier for the garage?

Anyone use a dehumidifier for the garage? The summers are hot and humid here in Atlanta. Folks use dehumidifiers for their basements but I haven't heard of anyone using one in the garage. Thoughts?

Sure, but it will get somewhat humid again every time the door is opened.

One of the guys on my team recommended a cool thing that he bought recently. It's a dehumidifier that produces drinking water from the air. It purifies the condensation and adds minerals to lower the pH and make it taste good, and works like a typical water cooler:

This would be a neat thing to have in the garage. Add solar power and you have an interesting solution for an off-the-grid/apocalyptic water supply.

Didn't know you were a prepper Chris.

You would need a giant dehumidifier to keep the humidity low if you plan on opening the door on a regular basis. Is there something in your garage you are trying to protect from the humidity?

This was more of a brainfart then anything else. Just seeing if anyone is doing this. It would have to drain outside to make any sense.

On real hot humid days, we have 2 stand up AC units that will take several gallons of water out of the air in about 12 hrs.

I run a 12k btu window unit wide open from May to October. The amount of condensation running out of it here in humid Va is impressive.

I have the Keystone 70-pint dehumidifier in my basement and garage and they do a very good job. It can go as low as 35% humidity.
