Defender Restoration Shop Needed - Michigan

I am trying to find a Defender-experienced shop in the Detroit, Michigan area to work on my 1994 Defender. Anything from a complete rewire to converting from diesel to gas - these types of projects.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

With the amount you could potentially eat spending I wouldn’t limit yourself to only Michigan. You could probably ship the truck to either coast for $1200

You might try these guys:

I've never had any work done, but I know they work on Defenders and other British cars.

The #1 Defender shop in the whole country (as rated by People magazine), HHH, is right across the Lake Michigan pond from you.

You can throw the D on the Badger Ferry and have a nice weekend trip.

[Sorry, I don’t have any real recommendations for a shop]

Ask @johan, he’s a Michigander and might have some local knowledge.

I think that list was pretty laughable to be honest. It left off ECR, who does the best work I’ve seen. You can see one of their builds if you look through the Bring a Trailer thread. It’s criminal what they charged for the quality of work they did on a NAS D90 restoration

100% agree. My attempt at sarcasm clearly did not translate electronically. I was hoping my reference to People magazine would help. Should have used some emojis I guess.

Tim -- Unfortunately, I cannot really add anything to the above--but--despite appearances to the contrary, your are not the only classic Land Rover / Defender enthusiast in Michigan (I am in Lansing). Stay in touch, as I have bee thinking of trying to organize a more formal group.

Cheers,
Eric
