D1 Front Seats

Has anyone swapped the Passenger seat to the Driver's side and visa-versa on a D1? As you may guess the driver
s side is getting worn and the passenger side is like a 9.

Memory is failing me, and Coyote lives offsite..but I would swear all you need to do is use a torx to swap seat belt setups from side to side.

Well, if you have a '95 or earlier I think that's a no go. Mounting points are side specific. I would get a diaphragm from Bearmach (ExMoor) and a base foam and rebuild it. Covers are pretty universal so just about any Disco seat base cover will work.

Thanks gents. This is a 97 SE my son bought a couple years ago. He's in the first year at college so ive been driving it almost everyday and just love it. I'll report back once I've had a chance to take a closer look.

Just swap the foam-and-leather covered seat bottoms. The whole seat probably needs to come out of the truck, but then is a good time to detail clean the area under the seats.

All of this chat about Disco seats reminded me of my 97 cloth seats that gave out the diaphragm two weeks before I sold it. I do also think the seats are specific to the side so getting new foam and diaphragm are the way to go. My cloth looked pretty good after 150K from new miles better than expected. Many cars before and after with leather showed much more wear and tear IMHO.

I used the Exmoor foam and diaphragm for a D2 as Dxmoor didn't have any D1's, didn't see any differance other that drilling two new holes in the frame as the diaphragm has two extra hooks. This was on my cloth seats.

Much better than sitting in the hole of a collapsed rubber.
