I have the Sawyer filter and it is quite amazing. We used it in Glacier NP to safely drink the runoff. I'm really glad we had it as most hikes we were drinking 2-3 Nalgene bottles per person.

That cummins diesel crate engine that's 50 state legal looks VERY intriguing. Since my truck will be heading for California in a couple years, I think that might be the route I take. I love the diesel feel of the truck and don't want to go the LS route unless I have to. This changes things.
