Congolese Defender

This is an amazing video, but looking at the split-windshield, latch door handles, and the metal seat grab bar, I suspect that’s really a Series III, or at the latest, a very early Defender with a TDI engine put in. Certainly not made in 1994 unless it’s been back-modified using salvaged parts (admittedly, a real possibility in sub-saharan Africa.

Engine is a TDI (300 I am pretty sure and guy says the engine is original) and it has coils. It also has an R380 (he goes down and to the right to reverse in the driving video). I have been watching the videos since he started. The doors look like 85ish (or Santana). It has the early clutch pedal and updated steering wheel so I am going with it really being a 94ish early 300Tdi defender 110. Probably was wrecked/rolled or had the doors stolen and like many rovers put together with whatever they had around.

There are some older parts like the brake master and booster (might not even be rover), it has one piece front drive flanges on the front axle etc.
