Clutch pedal feels like trash

Driving to work this morning 95 300tdi r380. I went to shift gears felt a pop when pressing the clutch and now the pedal won't go all the way to the floor. It shifts but feels like garbage. When releasing has a slight shutter.

I didn't check the fluid or anything since I was on the way to work. I'll check when I get out tonight. This is the daily driver.

Any ideas? I feel like a clutch spring or something popped but that doesn't make sense either

Bummer!
I’d pop the rectangular lid off of the pedal cluster and see what the pushrod looks like. Maybe the nuts backed off. Is there side to side play in the pedal itself- rebuilt my pedal cluster cause it was making noise. Lastly, at resting position, does the bottom of the clutch pedal measure 5.5” vertical to the floor? Probably worth putting more fluid in and bleeding anyway.
Post up what you find:)

As the weather cools, the leaves change, the midwesterners migrate back to Arizona and Defender owners change their clutch masters and slaves. It's a seasonal right of passage just like Snoopy, Linus and the great Pumpkin episode runs on TV.

guessing the pop was the spring breaking.. and now it feels off because the spring isn't working.

if this is it, it will be the easiest fix going.

when you make the order buy an extra spring because they break.

again I have broken 2

Had a brain wave on the way home. I wonder if it's the clutch fork.

Spring and fluid are good
Pedal feels soft, has travel but is short. It stops before it gets to the floor.

I wonder if the pedal cracked this morning and just didn't rip all the way thru..

HD clutch fork?
I was just texting viola, he asked the same thing and to be honest, I don't know if the fork was HD or not. You remember the fiasco of this transmission... Who knows what the first shop did and what the second shop ended up putting in. (Even though we ordered a full clutch kit again)

Broken pressure plate and worn pilot bearing

What should the clutch pedal be adjusted to with the series defender clutch master? I'm wondering if it was too high.

Did someone put a v8 transmission in that truck? Your pilot bushing has strange wear that almost looks like the input shaft wasn’t long enough.

Couple broken clutch springs? Looks like the throwout bearing could have seized. I'm with Jim on the pilot bushing. Could have happened on install too.
How many miles are on that clutch?
