Gotcha. Well the idea is that the starter gets its ground via the grounded engine/transmission but adding a cable as per UD certainly couldn't hurt. That being said I doubt this relates to your issue (other then potentially contributing to your starter failing as UD).

Honestly you probably just need new brushes, not really a big deal, and luckily not too expensive either.

The wires and cables are all secure. But there is no extra ground cable to the block.

It is very easy to verify if there is a bad ground using the voltage drop test I mentioned previously. Voltage drop doesn't lie.

Robert Davis for a new one. Then get your old one rebuilt, then put it on the parts bin shelf.
