Anyone tried to 'relocate' the Engine ECU in a '95 NAS D90?

Wondering how much 'slack' there is in the wiring harness, could the ecu (and the fuel pump/ignition relays) be removed from the seat box and put in the center console for instance? It just seems so vulnerable in it's current location, the seat box is barely adequate for keeping out water when driving in the rain, much less making a water crossing of any kind..

More Thursday afternoon random thoughts, brought you by a mind wandering to the Winter Romp I'm not attending..

Tupperware.

Also, you can fill an ecu with water and when you shake the water out it will be fine. Not saying to try this, but it is true. Keep the torx bit (T20? Maybe it’s T25) in the truck so you can open the ECU up.

Adding to what Evilfig said.
Seen guys just Tupperware with silicon caulk, can add a vent tube as well if you are worried about overheating in the lunch container.
I remember years back that extreme offroad guys in the UK use to make their own extension harness so they could keep it up high on top of the dash or between the front seats on the rear bulkhead.
Then I saw in one of the Rover mags that a company was making an extension harness kit, that was 10-15 years ago.

Thanks for the replies, I've had others tell me the same about the 'survivability' of the factory ECU, but I have to say I'm still skeptical, and definitely not looking to try it. I dunked the ECU in my '89 Pathfinder after getting stuck in a mudhole, and it didn't survive. Would think something would short out if submerged when powered up (driving), hopefully I am wrong, but as the line goes, "I Had a Bad Experience"

Relocating it seems like the safest bet, but I'd be seriously surprised to find a premade extension cable..
