Anyone installed a Mirror Dashcam in their Defender?

@LRNAD90 I have a ROW truck with a headliner mounted mirror which is why the windsheld style mount doesn't work for me. You'll find if you message the seller on Aliexpress with some photos of your mount, they can tell you if they have a mount that fits though. My sunvisors only have 8 inches between them so there was a slim to none chance of any aftermarket mirror setup working between those. As for the video settings, I'll take a look today as I only just fitted the WDR camera a couple days ago. I'm fairly certain I saw 2k in there though.

that seems the ticket non overlay style, completely new mirror/cam/screen.
Agreed..

Okay, had a feeling. Curious what you find with the optional camera's resolution..

Looks like the resolution is still 1080p which seems fine to me. Maybe that's not ideal for everyone though. My main goal was to have the rear view camera since I'll have cabinets back there and a molle panel over the rear window preventing me from seeing out clearly. Still need to tidy up the wires but I'm waiting for the new mount to arrive before I do any of that.

@luckyjoe Another year later, and still no 4K rear Camera. Thought for sure they'd offer it by now. By the time I get myself to pull the trigger, I probably won't be able to get the 10" mirror anymore. Seems like it is only available on the manufacturer's website as a refurbished unit now, but the price is tempting..

Amazon is pitching a rearview mirror(guessing based on our coments here) and I wondered why, until I saw this post popped up. I woul dlove to add one, specially since I don't ike the location of the stock unit. I miss the location of the Wrangler TJ mirror, flipped(IYKYK) anyone ever just glue a base and use a different rearview mirror and call it good?

I have done it on several vehicles and the porcess is straight forward, simple and quick.

I don't think I get better resolution on my 39yo rearview mirror with faded backing and dust on it. How's the vibration reduction?

Turns out the camera I ordered is 1080p which is likely why I don't see the higher resolution in there. Oops!

Hmmmm, the camera looks like the one that is included with the G900 and is said to be a 2.5K rear camera. So I called Wolfbox support. They advised that the 2.5K camera can be used on the G930, but it is limited to the 1080p resolution by the DVR in the G930 mirror. Never the answer I am looking for, oh well..

They still recommended the upgraded camera for better low light image, but it is still only 1080p.

I guess if I went with the G900, it would be like the G930 is with your visors, as I have 10 inches between mine.

Thanks for the Photos, BTW :)

No vibration even with my jerry rigged mount right now. I have some electrical tape around the ball to make up the size to the smallest ball adapter. I have a different mount coming soon though so I'll let you know if that holds out.

Something to note is I don't think I found any OEM or aftermarket mounts to allow the g900 to replace the stock mirror. It has been a while since I've looked though as it was about a year ago that I researched the g900 for another vehicle.

I’m going to install the G900 in my Grenadier, so entirely different application. But I did collect two options for direct connecting to the stock mirror mount. I’ve read various reports of vibration (or lack there of) post install, with the worst using 3M vibration damping tape to cure it.

I like the idea of this specially with how much room and view is gained if the stock mirror is replaced.

The mirror mount that replaces the stock arm arrived yesterday. Decent quality metal piece with some texture. No spring clip like the stock mirror so you screw a clamp piece in to attach it. I'll take some photos of the mount over the weekend and some installed photos once its in. Has a bit of textured finish unlike the stock smooth finish. Also has a provision to run wires through which is nice.

I would think a back up camera on the tailgate would work (figuring out the wire route) and would be really helpful on the 127/130?
Yes, easy to mount and hide ... Just haven't found one suitable yet....def some options though

As a back-up camera option, or rear facing part of dash cam package? Nicely integrated for sure, and probably fine for back-up camera duties, but not sure if the quality level is there for rear half of a dash came monitoring solution? Optimill doesn't list any specs for the camera, just says it is 'HD', which has a wide range of interpretations it seems..

(Also wouldn't be sure how well it 'sees' around a large spare tire on a NAS style carrier)

I installed the Wolfbox G900 dual cam in my 90 beginning of the year.
I have the rear cam mounted under the 3rd brake light ('97 NAS wagon). The rear cam is wired to the reverse light so when that light comes on, the rear view mirror display goes to backup mode (you can aim the view lower to the ground - note the parking lines do not move).

Things I really like: 1) the image quality & sample rate of the rear view cam are great as a review view mirror replacement, 2) the rear cam is wide angle, so I have less of a blind spot, left or right sides to worry about. If a car is passing me... and once the car is out of my the rear view mirror, I can see they're in my side mirrors or next to me.
Only downside, you no longer can use the rear view mirror to check your hair, your smile or "bats in cave". But the rear view mirror (cam) is so clear and bright that I often forget it is not a mirror. Yes, I can turn off the rear view mirror display... but why.

I assume you are younger than I, or more gifted in the vision department, as at my age I need corrective lenses to focus on something that close to me. Give that the portion of the progressive glasses that helps me see at close distances is at the bottom of my glasses, it likely means I'd have to have my headed tilted back like I was examining the headliner to be able to clearly see the 'video' display of the 'mirror', so I suspect that I would need to keep it in mirror mode (man this getting old shit sucks)

On another note, the 12" wide G900 mirror doesn't seem like it would play well with the Sun Visors, comments on your experience?
