Alternator replacement

My A127 45-amp alternator died. It has two wires to the big post and a small spade connection. If I replace it with a 65-amp alt, does the small spade wire get a new connector and go to the small post? I'm referencing the images here: http://www.rovahfarm.com/defenderignition.htm

Or, am I going down the wrong path and there's a better (fairly drop-in) option than the 65-amp?

V belt or serpentine?

Since you live in a sizable city, I'd look into having it rebuilt locally.

V belt. I could get it rebuilt, but if I can upgrade fairly easily, it'd be worth it to me.

Years ago I bought a local parts store "lifetime warranty" alternator.

Kept my o.e. unit and had it rebuilt locally.

I've had the parts store replaced...criminy, it's more than 5 times under warranty and kept the rebuilt o.e. unit as spare.

Yes, I know, I ate the core charge...its worth it to me to have a spare as well as a unit that I can have replaced almost anywhere in the country within a day at the longest.

YMMV
