99-01 300tdi Gauges/instrument harness wanted

Looking for a used gauge cluster(long shot). I bought a new main harness for a 99-01 300tdi, which uses the later cluster(pricey gauges). Believe 99-2006 300tdi gauges should work, buying the warning cluster new. Not sure what VDO lists as replacements for these, but would be open to those as well. Looking for speedo, water temp, fuel level, and tach

I'm just going to throw out a suggestion there for you Zach. The tach is totally useless on a TDI. I have one a vdo one that I added just because I had an extra gauge hole. You be better off putting a boost gauge or an oil pressure gauge in there.

If you are going to tweak the 300Tdi I would highly recommend an EGT gauge and I 100% agree with Napalm00, a tach on a LR diesel is useless.

If you want four instruments, go with Water temp, volt meter, fuel, oil pressure. SDO will do a custom center switch panel with a hole for an instrument. Unless you got a fancy pants mud type center console.

I,think LR got it right when they decided that a clock should be a primary instrument on the tdi

I hear you all, when I was reading the VDO gauge thread I was going back and forth between EGT gauge and tach. I like the tach, but realize it's not nearly as useful as EGT or others. Personally I dont totally feel the need for volt meter, if shit starts getting dark I'll know there's a problem

I’ve gone for years with just temp, oil pressure, and EGT. My fuel gauges are in the center.

Sorry I was assuming you already had a egt. Definitely egt before boost !

Well it's decided(mostly because I got a whole take out cluster) and it looks like I ended up with a clock after all haha

Will likely replace with an EGT gauge eventually. Never ran one on my 300 disco without issue, but it's still far more useful than an analog clock.

He did generously offer the collection to me for free, Sal is a great guy. I ended up buying a whole cluster from Mike on here, also a great guy. Ultimately Mike's was complete and he was ready to ship, Sal's was incomplete and in storage(wasn't trying to stress him out over finding parts quickly to send while making no money)
