1979 Series Hybrid coil sprung Defender. $24,500.00 OBO. The truck was based on 1976 mechanical's with the wonderful 300 Tdi and R380 5 speed transmission. If you are looking for a beauty Queen this may not be it, however if you are looking for an off road truck you will not go wrong with this Diesel Rover. It has a custom RTE 3/2 inch lift, (3"progressive springs in the front and 2" Heavy Duty at the rear.) ARB air locker at the rear with 4.11 HD gears, Ashcroft air locker at the front with reverse cut 4.10 gears. OME shocks, Warn Powerplant winch, custom front bumper with skid plate, center diff skid plate, RTE HD control arms and trailing links, HD axle shafts, HD CV joints, Full exo PP cage to the frame, Separate inner hoop, sunroof, good glass, removable door tops, Staun internal bead locks on 33 inch mud tires, (all 5). The truck runs like a champ with the 300 Tdi diesel. I replaced the glow plugs, injectors, turbo and updated the head. The R380 5 speed works great. The negative is the paint is scratched however the doors have just been painted. The rear cross member will need to replaced some time in the future.
If you want to hit the trails you can not go wrong here. The diesel is amazing with the torque coming on at a very low RPM. This truck can easily be driven to the trails, have fun for the day and driven home that night.
