On the 4.0 block, just below the deck on cylinder 5, there is a fixture that sticks out from the block with a hole going thru it (parallel to ground). Does anyone know what this is for, I cannot remember if it was used. I am getting a block decked, and the machine shop was asking if they could cut it flush with deck (which would leave the hole), or if they could just remove it. You can just see it sticking out from CYL 5 in the picture below:
