300Tdi idle adjustment

I've noticed that my truck idles more smoothly when I give it a tiny bit of fuel with the pedal. I adjusted the idle up a little bit last year but now I think that it would idle more nicely if I turned it up again. Is there any reason not to do this? I don't have a tach so no idea what it's sitting at.

Only reason not to is that it will use a teaspoon more fuel per hour @ idle.

In the UK thats a huge deal so they idle them down till they are shaking violently

This is what I meant when I was saying I was using a strobe app on the phone to check my RPMs in another thread. I had not found that particular app though, since the maker, or Apple is so bad at having proper search criteria.

I've managed to set the timing on the Series, and to set the tach on the Defender using a free strobe app.

I remember you suggesting that. I downloaded the strobe app, got confused as to what I was supposed to do and where to mark the pulley. With this one you just need to put the phone near the engine and it tells you the RPM on screen. However it costs $8 which is a lot for an app that doesn't really do much other then tell you your RPM.

Get a photo or laser tach. Useful for many things in the future and does not cost much.

Mine is the same way. If I just put the weight of my foot on the pedal the engine smoothes out a bit but if I turn up the idle then I get higher pitched vibes that are equally annoying. With all this said I prob have the wrong hockey pucks between my engine and chassis which I imagine isn't any help.
