So I goofed and bought a 200tdi silencer for my truck. It has been sitting around for years and finally got around to installing it, and i ran into a snag.

The mounts are a wee bit different. See photo. rotary 3 bolt vs 2 bolt
Any direction? install the old and let it rust off? Straight pipe? Modify?

Take it to an exhaust shop they will cut off the three-bolt flange. They will then match a two-bolt flange, cut it in half and then weld it around the pipe.

Or you just cut the end off of the new one or old one and buy the correct flange and ball joint. Then weld on the new pipe.

You're looking at around maybe $80 worth of work at oak shop here in the Bay area. Anywhere else in the States maybe 50 bucks?

cut off the flanges on both sides and use a proper exhaust clamp, below, to join the two pipes together.

no welding required and will cost about $20. These are factory style exhaust clamps on VW, Audi, etc.
