200tdi lift pump dripping fuel

as title states.

Lately I've noticed a drip (diesel, not oil) coming from the lift pump, maybe 3 drips a minute at idle. Thought it might be the fittings, or fuel lines to pump. Cleaned up surfaces, ever so gently checked tightness on fittings, fuel lines look ok going in, fittings do not appear to leak. Drove a bit then parked, idled.

Noticed fuel drips appear to be coming from the small hole on the underside of the lift pump, is this a sort of relief for the internal diaphram/gasket thing on the inside?

Is this an indication of a pump on its way out? My spare in the boot bin is an allmakes unit, are these reasonably decent compared to the NLA OEM item?

Thanks

Fortunately for you, lift pumps are super cheap. I would go as far as to carry a spare considering the price.

Well I guess I did have fueling problems... wow she goes like a bat out of hell compared to before. I just thought it was due to the unnatural weight. You learn something new every day. :)

New pump in, no leaks... checking fittings after another drive tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll see if I can't stock up on a few spares.

Delphi is supposed to be the best quality, but it also costs more than the others out there.
