^ both above options are your best bet. OME springs with OME or Fox +2 shocks, or genuine HD with genuine or Fox shocks

Many people make the mistake of getting HD aftermarket springs, it'll ruin the ride. Light duty aftermarket or HD genuine are the way to go when lifting

I’ve had a few stock suspension NAS trucks, and a couple with a lift.

After comparing, I would never go from stock height to a lift, unless the intention is to wheel it hard.

The stock suspension setup is so well dialed - handles great on road and off. Also tackles 95% of the wheeling the average person is going to do.

Just my .02

I have a '94 D90 with OME shocks and springs. I does raise the ride height about 2 inches. The ride is firm when empty (not terribly so), but great with a load in the back. So I guess it depends on your use case.

Nearly all aftermarket shocks will result in a firm to harsh ride when unladen. Adjustable shocks are great for obtaining a compliant ride when unladen but still have the option to increase damping rates for loaded trips.

Heavily opinion based, but the 2" OME shouldn't be too much different than stock ride/handling wise, and (mildly) lifted Defenders (again, IMHO) look soo much better than stock (just as aggressive tires look better too)

As for tire size, stock NAS tire is 32", 33" fit without a lift, but you have to watch the width as well..

FWIW... OME shocks intended to be factory replacement or +2" are very stiff. They are stiff even for a heavy-ass vehicle like a LWB Classic.
If you don't want to hate your life, I'd suggest looking for Bilsteins first.

You really can't go any wider than the (NAS) Stock 265 without rubbing (or severely curtailing your turning radius) unless you want to run spacers, or a wheel with more offset. I run 1.25" spacers (another point of endless debates) with a 285 width, and the factory NAS flares cover them nicely with no modifications.

I've had the same experience with 285s on stock wheels rubbing the front radius arms and also added wheel spacers to correct the issue. I have OME medium duty springs and OME shocks which gave me about a 1/12 - 2 in lift. I am very happy with the ride on and off road and it still looks relatively stock.
