Aloha all,

Time to sell one of my Perentie 110's. I am motivated to sell this vehicle, which I bought from Australian Frontline Machinery in 2018 and had exported to Hawaii. Never have been able to register them here, but I have all the paperwork and importation clearances from USDOHS (US Customs, EPA, DOT).

Details:

  • VIN#: SALLDHAZ1FF374441
  • Vehicle is in pretty good shape and unmodified.
  • Has under 47,000 Km or under 30,000 miles
  • Chassis is galvanized with galvanized Roo Bar, and Roll Over Protection Bars
  • Has Dana 60 rear axle HD Rover front
  • HD Springs and Shocks
  • Has the 3.9l 4BD1 Isuzu NA diesel, can be easily fitted with turbo, power steering, power brakes etc.
  • Routinely get 25mpg with diesel just cruising around trails and farm, about 23 with straight bio diesel.
  • Have Australian Army Record Book
  • Has some surface rust around front vents, on diff pan, and on seat frames, all of which is very minimal and will be taken care of with appropriate wire brush and primer prior to shipping.
  • Tires are 7.5x16 Michelin XZL's with good tread but tired rubber. Will need new tires but is fine for moving and shipping.
  • Fuel gauge, Temp Gauge and Voltage gauges work intermittently, need to sort out ground wiring.

Offers accepted.
  • Can help arrange shipping and bringing vehicle to port, but buyer has to pay for the actual shipping.
  • Can make modifications to vehicle for time and materials at $25 per hour or fixed agreed upon price, such as,
  • Turbo for engine, power steering, power brakes, axle upgrades, portal hubs, suspension upgrades, reconfigurations of tops, larger tires etc.
  • Can prep for new paint and arrange for professional painting/bedliner etc.
  • Or sold as is.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Have more pictures to share.

I am on the Big Island in Keaau. Yeah, it's really weird. I knew a guy from OR that brought his Perentie here after having it registered in OR, so they had to transfer his plates. Because of that, PMVI actually sent out an officer to inspect the VIN#s which he did and signed off on. Which was supposed to clear me to register the vehicles but then was told no, because "they had never been registered before", despite me having the ARN paperwork from the Australian Defense. The PMVI guy even went to object for me and it didn't matter. That's Hawaii for you, title Kei cars from Japan and anything Toyota from Japan, but have kittens over HUMVEEs, Pinzgaurs and Unimog.

Yeah, could easily register them in many states, including my home state of Maine. But I haven't been able to travel due to Covid, and then due to going through a divorce in which I have custody of my daughter, so I can't bring her off island, without getting permission from the court, which takes a while. Makes it hard to do anything.

Had my Perentie on Oahu, but I had a VA title and a CT registration already. What about a specific POA? For someone you trust in Maine?

You can take it off island as “non-operational” has to be towed to port.

Mine was registered in Virginia before. What killed if for me is that inspected the VIN and wanted to see the federal emissions sticker in engine bay. I about bought a NAS emission decal. I’m Haole and didn’t know the right people, that’s the real truth.

Hawaii is more of a third world country with nice stuff. There is guy that might be able
Help you, he works at the bmw dealership in kona, he has green defender 110 that is all kitted out that is usually there. Also there is white row spec that hides in the coffee farms that I can put you touch with, but he at not be able to help much.

Also the guy with pinz trucks that operate in Waipio valley, may be able to help. He obviously knows people. He has at least 3 pinzs

Thank you all for your replies. Yes, there are a lot of Landies here on island, the ones registered are typically ones that were titled in other states. How the people with direct imports from Japan that don't have the "correct stickers" and never were intended for the NA markets as they never met crash requirements at all, get registered and titled........ let's just say that knowing the right individuals on island can move......well, islands:) I don't have those type of connections.
