110 ROW Fuel Filler Neck Conversion to NAS Type

I have a 1996 110 that has the ROW Filler Neck, which doesn't have the small hole inside. I want the NAS style neck with the small hole insert to make filling easier. In California we have the spring loaded Vapor Fuel Nozzles and with no insert in the neck and the springy nozzle, I can not plug and play the fuel dispenser. With the current neck, I must fill the tank while applying pressure to the nozzle to make sure it dispenses. I just can't stand by and set it, as it pops out and makes a mess. Also, even when I am present, when it gets close to full and triggers the shutoff, the backsplash spits gas out because the opening has a gap versus the nozzle.

Rovers North says the NAS filler won't fit. Has anyone a workaround? Thank you.

I believe I found my own simpler solution. I am posting here in case anyone has this issue in the future. Hopefully this works.

When we do LS swaps we always convert to plastic tanks so that we can have a sealed fuel system. The old style like you have is a vented cap. I have made a plate to go over the original hole and just panel bond it in place. It gets painted body color or powder coated black depending on the application.

You are going to have issues if yours is petrol and you convert it to the NAS style cap since it isn’t vented.
