    Radiator 3.5L V8 - ESR76

I'm getting ready for summer. I've removed the radiator and taken it to a radiator shop, which is now saying the core has to be replaced. They want a lot of money to do so. I see aftermarket replacement radiators as low as $205 from bearmach and other UK vendors. I've ordered a few times from...

    GM 3.0 Liter 4 Cylinder

You answered my dumb question about the 292 in the other thread. Is the GM 3.0 Liter conversion also only limited to certain transmission, e.g. "short belhousing 4 cylinder bolt pattern"? The post above implies that.

    Carb Issues - 1987 3.5 V8

Another update on changing the intake manifold and carburetor. Great weather this past weekend in South East Texas. Family allowed me some time to work on the defender. I finished installing the throttle cable and throttle cable bracket, temporarily installed the fuel lines, now with pressure...

    Carb Issues - 1987 3.5 V8

If anyone is interested here's an update on the situation with the water neck. I tried shortening one, but the hose still ended up hitting the distributor with the hose connected I contacted the company I bought my defender from, since they offer the edelbrock carb & EFI conversion...

    Carb Issues - 1987 3.5 V8

An update on my intake manifold situation. First I must be a huge idiot because I can't figure it out. From the various edelbrock manifold threads on the internet I haven't seen this problem discussed yet, regarding the water neck / thermostat housing. The one that came with my truck and on...

GM 292 Straight 6 - Yet another conversion

RDavisinVA, Thanks for the clear explanation for a defender newb! Good to know it is both a length clearance and bolt pattern issue for the LT85 transmission. My Aussie defender is RHD. I rechecked the manual that came with the truck. I misread the specification sheet. It is supposed to have a...

GM 292 Straight 6 - Yet another conversion

Thanks for the reply. Since my truck is factory A/C, I know the front grill sticks out further than standard NON A/C defenders. I know this because most aftermarket bumpers will not work because of this difference. Unsure if the extra room, maybe an inch or so would allow it to fit?

GM 292 Straight 6 - Yet another conversion

RDavisinVA, apologies in advance for some dumb questions. I'm still very new to my defender 110. I've read most of this thread with great interest and excitment. I have 1987 defender 110 RHD from Australia with a 3.5L v8 with an LT85 transmission and 1.22 transfer case (LT230T ?) with factory...

    Temp Sensor for 3.5L v8

That looks just like the one I pulled off. I tried again to thread it into the edelbock manifold. First I ran the 5/8"-18 bolt to make sure the threads are clean. Now the old stock temperature sensor threads in easily. So basically I was being too cautious, in other words a BABY about messing...

    Temp Sensor for 3.5L v8

THANKS Robert! Do you have any more information about these switches like diameter and thread pitch? I'm asking because it would make my life easier on possibly ordering an adapter. My new water neck doesn't have the ability to connect like the old one. Sounds like I need to buy a hot side...

    Temp Sensor for 3.5L v8

I didn't know 5/8" UNF is the normal temperature sender. The one on my stock manifold isn't that diameter and thread pitch. I mistakenly wrote 1/2". I also didn't know the outer diameter of 3/8" NPT is 0.675", which is larger than 5/8" = 0.625. It also didn't help the existing water neck on...

    Temp Sensor for 3.5L v8

Well I'm not a complete idiot. I called Edelbrock tech help line. Turns out both holes are 5/8" diameter with 18 thread count. No wonder non of the plugs I bought won't work. Same for the water temp sensor. Made a quick trip to home depot. Bought a 5/8" 18 bolt, threads easily! How come no one...

    Temp Sensor for 3.5L v8

I'm feeling super frustrated and really stupid. I'm in the middle of installing an edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor. From reading the various edelbrock conversation threads on the internet, I just assumed my water temperature sensor would just screw into the edelbrock manifold. It's...

    Carb Issues - 1987 3.5 V8

A little update on my situation. This past Friday I got some unexpected time off from work and the weather was perfect, mid 70's with low humidity. I removed the intake air cleaner and intake boots. The right carb is the problem. There was gas in the intake boot on that side alone. The float...

    Carb Issues - 1987 3.5 V8

Just north of the heights. Thanks for the tips. I think these carbs are nearly original / untouched. They still have a tamper proof band installed. I ran out of time to replumb and check return line for fuel coming out. I think for nearly the same amount of time fixing the old I can get new...

    Carb Issues - 1987 3.5 V8

Well yesterday the stars aligned. It was sunny and in the 70's and I got a few hours to work on my 110 to investigate the problem. I also bought a fuel gauge and a regulator just in case. I pulled the massive airfilter off to get access to the rear bulkhead. I traced the fuel and return lines...
