So cool. I wish there was a way to make it also work with the TDIs
After conversations in Maine this weekend we may offer a kit that would include the clutch assembly, bell housing, unique clutch fork, intercooler, and radiator, and possibly frame side mounts. Like the repro r380 tunnels, these will be offered through a retailer in the community. Is someone sellling motor mounts for this step up?
The flyhweel housing on a TDI is too small. You would need a larger flywheel housing, a larger flywheel and room for it all to fit.
Hence the "I wish"
Thanks Adam. Nice to meet you last weekend.this is very nice work by you doug and quickdraw. with the baseline engineering done, it might be compelling to do a LS bellhousing for the R380 also (although that would be for the regular non stumpy). not to get off topic, but seeing the work done its inspiring.
Possibly, that is my hope, but will find out when we start the mock up. If not, going to design a birds mouth type weldment that will saddle over the top of the frame rail as well as down the inside of the rail and make the big Miller earn its keep. I know some interested parties would prefer a 100% bolt in kit. May be possible but I have seen the offset/cantilever mounts others make for different engine installs trying to make something work with the original frame side mounts and dont like the look, the engineering, and dont believe they will hold up to this application. We'll have to see. Whatever we come up with, will have them made and sell them as part of the kit.Wow! That bellhousing is really clean looking and I bet will look factory when mounted to the R2.8.
Given that the bellhousing is short and there is no adapter do you think there are any possibilities of using the 2.5NA/200tdi frame mounts in the stock location to work with the R2.8 engine? I've probably asked before with the other adapters but this new bellhousing looks like it will put the Cummins right where a 200tdi would reside.
Fantastic work on the BH and the beefier throw-out lever and HD Mopar clutch is just icing on the cake!
Yes, since we have engineered a proven cooling package and now the bellhousing/ clutch setup it just made sense to do so. Chad likes designing and engineering, he was going to have to hire people to handle fulfillment so our plan fell together nicely. Conceived in a bar in Maine during ROMP.Fabulous. Moving the retailing to a existing retailer is great plan.
