Is someone sellling motor mounts for this step up?
After conversations in Maine this weekend we may offer a kit that would include the clutch assembly, bell housing, unique clutch fork, intercooler, and radiator, and possibly frame side mounts. Like the repro r380 tunnels, these will be offered through a retailer in the community.
We discussed offering the kit with or without technical phone support. The Cummins flywheel will need to be drilled and tapped for the mopar pressure plate. This will be offered on an exchange basis or can be done by the diy'er with supplied instructions.
Chad @ Quick Draw says he's getting hammered with emails and calls because of my posts here and would prefer to do batch B2B sales as opposed to retail. We are still working through the best throwout bearing to use.

Also getting a long bellhousing r380 (300 tdi) to Chad to make a bellhousing for, although I think there would be less demand for those. The R2.8 is a Rover Tdi x3.

Hence the "I wish"

It could all probably be done if you wanted. I doubt there is a market that would warrant it. You would probably need another $1500 on top of this $850. It is not often I've seen someone want a larger clutch for a TDI beyond what is available.

We have 3-4 of the stumpy bell housings here, new. Will sell them for what Ashcroft offered to buy them back for, 100gbp.
Cost new is 140 gbp.

Finished product. New HD R380 stumpy with Cummins R2.8 bellhousing. As you can see the clutch slave has been relocated to work from the rear. The new throw out lever is a billet one that will never fail like the stock land rover ones are famous for doing. Last picture is the Cummins supplied flywheel drilled and tapped for the mopar hd clutch assembly. I'd like to think the 10 mos it took me to get here was worth the journey.
In my opinion this is the cheapest, strongest, cleanest, and simplest way to mate a new modern engine into an antique Defender. Look @ the large friction surface for the clutch vs the one pictured in the other thread. Since these can be turned up to 380 ft lbs of torque its best to engineer things to last.

Yep,he sent yours and Dan's castings out and will send you the rest once I've bolted everything together and we're sure
no tweaks need to be made.
A deal was struck today to make these proprietary so Quickdraw will no longer be the retail source.
A long bell housing r380 solution has already been figured out and will be available in a couple weeks utilizing these same components. These kits will be available through a Rover aftermarket parts supplier here in the US and will be available to ship worldwide.

Plans are to offer the kits in stages to include or delete: engine and frame side mounts, cooling system/intercooler, phone tech support.
Ie packaged deal or a la carte.

this is very nice work by you doug and quickdraw. with the baseline engineering done, it might be compelling to do a LS bellhousing for the R380 also (although that would be for the regular non stumpy). not to get off topic, but seeing the work done its inspiring.

Wow! That bellhousing is really clean looking and I bet will look factory when mounted to the R2.8.

Given that the bellhousing is short and there is no adapter do you think there are any possibilities of using the 2.5NA/200tdi frame mounts in the stock location to work with the R2.8 engine? I've probably asked before with the other adapters but this new bellhousing looks like it will put the Cummins right where a 200tdi would reside.

Fantastic work on the BH and the beefier throw-out lever and HD Mopar clutch is just icing on the cake!

Thanks Adam. Nice to meet you last weekend.
Chad is a diesel, specifically Cummins, guy. Not sure you could get him interested in a LS project.
Now that I have the pieces of the puzzle we have a bunch of these to do. Ie, I've bitten off as much as I can chew for a while.

Possibly, that is my hope, but will find out when we start the mock up. If not, going to design a birds mouth type weldment that will saddle over the top of the frame rail as well as down the inside of the rail and make the big Miller earn its keep. I know some interested parties would prefer a 100% bolt in kit. May be possible but I have seen the offset/cantilever mounts others make for different engine installs trying to make something work with the original frame side mounts and dont like the look, the engineering, and dont believe they will hold up to this application. We'll have to see. Whatever we come up with, will have them made and sell them as part of the kit.

Fabulous. Moving the retailing to a existing retailer is great plan.
Yes, since we have engineered a proven cooling package and now the bellhousing/ clutch setup it just made sense to do so. Chad likes designing and engineering, he was going to have to hire people to handle fulfillment so our plan fell together nicely. Conceived in a bar in Maine during ROMP.
